KIYO
Finding joy solely in discovering the balance between beauty
and usefulness,
the empty, soundless space is filled with “that time.”
Silence is not merely transparent,
and a bent back is not truly still.
— In the moment of making work
Since 2016, I have been working in Korea under the name Kiyo.
I create abstract objects that express memory and emotion,
as well as everyday vessels that quietly follow the beauty of use and the scenes they become part of.
With the feeling that
“ceramics, to me, are like classical music with a simple composition.”
Without planning series or delivering particular messages,
I shape beauty in the way I naturally and instinctively prefer
—
like functional ceramics that become an ordinary part of life.
